CAMEO, Colo. (KREX) — A car crash on I-70 killed one adult female driver. According to Colorado State Patrol, the woman was driving her SUV westbound on I-70 near Cameo, when she lost control, over corrected, then rolled the vehicle.
The 35-year-old woman was the only person in the 1997 Ford SUV, she was not wearing a seat belt. No other vehicles were involved, but the accident stopped traffic for miles on I-70 as both lanes traveling westbound were delayed for nearly three hours.
Traffic was backed up from Palisade to mile marker 46 near Cameo. Multiple tow trucks weaved through the traffic to get to the scene.
The Mesa County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating if the driver may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident.
