40-year-old female arrested for Nov. 27 collision on I-70

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Grand Junction Police Department reports that 40-year-old Starlyn Tait is charged for the two-vehicle collision that closed Interstate 70 for hours. Tait was speeding westbound I-70 near Horizon Drive, began veering into the median when she overcorrected her vehicle, causing it to spin into the right lane and collide with another vehicle occupied by an adult male and female.

The collision caused both vehicles to roll multiple times, ultimately they came to a stop in a swampy area adjacent to the interstate.

All three adults were transported to the hospital. The adult male and adult female sustained serious injuries in the collision.

Speed and alcohol play as factors to the crash, according to Grand Junction Police.

Tait has been arrested with the following charges:

  • Vehicular Assault, while under the influence or alcohol or drugs (2 Counts)
  • Reckless Driving (1 Count)
  • Driving Under the Influence (1 Count)

The investigation is ongoing.
