The United States Women’s Soccer team got off to a banging start, opening up group play destroying Thailand, 13-0. Some people are criticizing the US women for running up the score, but a US soccer legend is defending the current US women’s soccer team.
Abby Wambach, who scored a record 184 goals in 256 appearances for the US, posted on Twitter following the win asking if men would be called out in the same manner. The tweet says, “For all that have issue with many goals. For some players, this is there first World Cup goal, and they should be excited. Imagine it being you out there. This is your dream of playing and then scoring in a World Cup, celebrate, would you tell a men’s team to not score or celebrate?”
