Expect partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies in the Valley today with a slight chance a shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening mainly for Fresno County northward. Winds will also pick up late in the day from the southeast at 10 to 20 m.p.h. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the mid-70s to the lower 80s. A shower or thunderstorm will also be possible in the northern foothills and the Sierra late this afternoon and evening. Strong winds will be likely in the higher terrain of the Sierra with gusts of 60 to 80 m.p.h. Next chance of rain for the Valley arrives by the midday hours on Sunday mainly to the north and could linger into the evening mainly to the south. Clear and drier conditions return to the Valley by the middle of the coming week.
