Arizona fired Head Coach Sean Miller

Arizona has fired head coach Sean Miller, after an NCAA investigation indicated that Miller violated recruiting rules.

Arizona announced Miller is leaving after 12 seasons and associate head coach Jack Murphy will take over on an interim basis.  Athletic director Dave Heeke says, “After taking the many factors involved into account, we simply believe that we need a fresh start and now is the time.”  Miller and the Wildcats had been on the NCAA’s radar since 2017, when a FBI investigation revealed shady recruiting practices.  ESPN reported that he was heard on an FBI wiretap discussing a $100,000 payment to future Number 1 overall NBA pick Deandre Ayton.  Miller, who won 302 games in Zona denied the report.
