Barr Demotes Head Of Federal Prison System

The man who served as director of America’s federal prison system is out! Attorney General William Barr on Monday demoted the acting head of the Bureau of Prisons saying Hugh Hurwitz would go back to being the assistant director of the Bureau’s Reentry Services Division.
The change comes in the wake of the suicide of Jeffrey Epstein earlier this month.  Barr said that there were “serious irregularities” at the manhattan facility where Epstein had been detained. The attorney general plans to appoint Kathleen Hawk Sawyer to take over as the Bureau’s director. She first served as director back in 1992 and left the position in 2003.
