GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — After an added day to their winter break due to a faulty fire alarm system, Chatfield Elementary students will be able to return to school on Wednesday, January 5.
The issue with the fire alarm system came about on Monday afternoon. Crews worked through the evening to find and fix the source of the issue, but were unable to do so. Without a working fire alarm system a school cannot safely or legally operate, which lead the school to cancel classes on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the fire alarm system is back in operating order.
