Chatfield Elementary School will not have class on Jan. 4

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Due to an issue with the school’s fire alarm system, Chatfield Elementary School will not have class on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022.

The school’s fire alarm system began malfunctioning Monday afternoon. Though crews have been working through the evening to find and fix the source of the issue, they have so far been unable to do so. As the school cannot safely or legally operate without a working fire alarm system, the decision has been made to cancel school Tuesday.

It is uncertain at this time when the issue will be resolved, but it will not be resolved tonight. We apologize for this inconvenience and will contact you again when the issue is resolved to let you know when school can resume. In the meantime, breakfast and lunch meal pickup will be provided curbside from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. (breakfast) and 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (lunch) at the west main entry.
