Dayton’s Obi Toppin has clearly been the best player in the country, this season.
He already won the AP and Naismath player of the year awards. Now, he has the other major award, to complete the trifecta. Toppin is named the winner of the John R. Wooden award, as the most outstanding college basketball player in the nation. The forward beat out Iowa’s Luka Garza to win the award. He averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, leading the Flyers to a school record 29 wins. A couple of weeks ago, the sophomore declared for the NBA draft.
