Flu infections are spiking across the U.S according to the CDC, as this season’s nasty strain grips the country.
It’s also sparking a second-wave of high activity and severe infections, with 32 states reporting they’re being hit hard.
The CDC estimates since October 1st there’s been as many as 26 million illnesses, up to 12 million medical visits, nearly 350-thousand hospitalizations, and up to 31-thousand deaths.
Officials believe those numbers could be gravely higher because not all flu-related deaths are detected or reported.
CDC health officials say the flu vaccination is your best defense against the flu.
At this time, it’s unclear whether the flu season has reached its peak, but experts say to expect flu activity to linger for weeks to come.
