Fresno Police surround a after reports a pregnant woman was shot by her husband

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) —

Police say the suspect has fired several shots from his home as SWAT teams and a police robot work to get the man to come out of his home.

A woman told police that she received a call early Wednesday morning from her son who told her he had shot his pregnant wife. During his rant, he asked her to pick up his wife, but also told his mom that he would shoot her if she came over.

Police say the mother went to the home but parked nearby. This morning the suspect’s three children, two 7-year-olds and a 3-year-old, came out of the home and were picked up by their grandmother. The children told their grandmother that their mother had been shot last night.

Police then surrounded the home with SWAT and have had several conversations with the suspect.

“That conversation has clearly indicated that this individual is high on what appears to be methamphetamine, he is rambling, he has made many statements about having AR-15s with him,” said Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer, “Since our team has been on site, there has been five gunshots from within the residents.”

Dyer said they used a flash-bang grenade to gain entry with a robot. They believe the suspect is isolated in one room and they have been able to communicate with him using the robot.

Belgravia Avenue is closed at Maple Avenue as they attempt to get the suspect to come out of his home. Police are urging neighbors to stay inside their homes as the suspect has been firing shots.
