Georgia Beachgoers Help Over Two Dozen Stranded Whales

Beachgoers in Georgia helped over two dozen pilot whales that were stranded right off saint simons island.

People went into the water trying to help out, pulling and pushing whales deeper into the ocean.

Two of those whales died and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources says they might have been sick.

Biologists say these kinds of whales travel in packs, so if one falls behind, they won’t leave it.

And that was part of the issue, so the group worked together to try to keep the pack far enough back in the water so they wouldn’t crash into nearby rocks.

Officials are now looking at the two dead whales to determine their cause of death.
