Health Now Medical suspended from CDC COVID-19 vaccination program

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Effective immediately, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) suspended Health Now Medical, LLC, which is operating as Health Now Family Practice, from the COVID-19 vaccination program. During a regularly scheduled sit visit, staff with CDPHE identified compliance issues that indicate Health Now Family Practice is not meeting the necessary standards required by Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine administration.

It was determined by CDPHE that there were issues with:
• Improper storage and handling of COVID-19 vaccine
• Inventory discrepancies
• Incomplete documentation of vaccine administration
• Missing temperature documentation
• Administration of vaccine to people outside of manufacturer recommendations
• Violations of federal billing requirements

It is like that as many as 68 Pfizer vaccine doses administered at Health Now Family Practice will be considered invalid due to the storage and handling issues. Those patients will need to be revaccinated.

CDPHE is currently consulting with CDC on the specific storage and handling incidents to determined the exact revaccination guidance. Once that revaccination guidance is finalized, the affected patients will be contacted by Health Now Family Practice with more information about revaccination.
