KN95 masks restocked at all Mesa County Library locations

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — More than 9,000 Coloradans contracted COVID-19 in the last week (1/25), that’s according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

In Mesa County over the past two weeks, more than 4,000 of your friends and neighbors, maybe even you, tested positive.

To help fight the state’s high COVID case count, the Biden administration is providing free medical grade face masks at local libraries.

KN95 masks are a hot commodity in Colorado, but all eight Mesa County library locations just restocked their supply.

While the States health department continues to urge Coloradans to get vaccinated, health officials are now asking you to toss your cloth mask and switch to an KN95 mask, because they are far more effective in preventing the spread of Omicron.

But, get them while there here, because these masks are going fast, “We are giving up to five per person, we are asking people to just take what they need but we do have a pretty good supply in place right now at all of our locations,” Shana Wade, Mesa County Libraries says, “We are happy to be able to provide this service.”

With proper care, your KN95 mask should be reusable for an extended period of time.

Discard of your masks, if it becomes wet, is stretched out or damaged.

To keep your KN95 mask clean between uses, store your mask in a dry paper bag that other people cannot access and where it will not get wet or be subject to direct sunlight or excessive heat.
