Lindsey Graham Unveils Bill to Change Asylum Process

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham unveiled an immigration proposal Wednesday.

Graham says his legislation would require migrants seeking asylum to apply at a consulate or embassy in their home country or Mexico instead of at the border.

It would also increase the time migrant children can be in custody to 100 days and make it easier to deport unaccompanied minors to Central America.

Graham claims that migrants are actually wanting to get caught when they cross the border, saying that beefed up border efforts will not work.

The senator concedes that the bill as written will not pass among Democrats, but added that they’ll have work on the bill with Republicans.
