GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The weekend after Thanksgiving is peak shopping time, not just for customers but for every business selling a potential gift. Loki Outerwear has grown its business over 25 years but, since moving downtown, Small Business Saturday is always a big deal.
With cold weather, the timing is great and Loki hopes our community keeps supporting its innovative products.
“Everything we make at Loki has a way to keep your hands warm and your face warm,” Loki Outerwear Co-Founder Seth Anderson shares, “We make a lot of winter outdoor gear and it’s the best time of year for us to make sales and make happy customers. A lot of our gear turns in a backpack so we really do unique and fun and functional gear
Shopping online is an option but shopping local makes an important impact.
“Between Black Friday and Small Business Saturday people don’t just wanna get a head start in a Christmas shopping but get great deals on stuff they want,” Cora Dickey reports, “The deal is when you shop at local businesses, more of the money that you spend goes back to the store and the community that it’s in.”
You’ll find 30 vendors alone just inside the Small Mall on Main. A Bakersfield family could have shopped Black Friday anywhere but chose Small Mall to browse and buy.
They’re on vacation and get a thrill shopping local.
“Shopping local on vacation is pretty fun because sometimes it has like a lot of like different things and what you usually shop,” Visitor Katie Morgan expresses, “I think I really like it because it never seen before and you get to buy new things too as well.”
Owner Patti Heartsill feels people are ready to embrace shopping for Christmas after Thanksgiving, which is why she wants success for her team and variety for her shoppers..
“It wasn’t just last week, it’s probably been the last two or three months that we’ve been getting ready and it changes all the time.,” Small Mall on Main’s Patti Heartsill describes, “It’s always something new. I was something different I have a lot of my regulars tell me the same thing: they say ‘I can always find a gift for somebody and then something for myself too’.”
Small Business Saturday only lasts one day but local businesses welcome your support every day of the year.
