Mesa County approves $200k contract for road dust control

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Mesa County is responsible for maintaining approximately 81 miles of gravel roads, requiring over 355,000 gallons of dust control material. On the morning of April 12, County Commissioners approved a $200,000 contract with Enviroad, LLC. for Earthbind, an environmentally safe, non-corrosive product used for gravel road maintenance.

Earthbind is a non-chloride, water-resistant product that was engineered specifically for gravel road stabilization and dust control. The compound showed a 60% reduction in prep work and summertime blading during three years of extensive testing.

To mitigate dust, the material should be applied annually.
