Mesa County Inmate Died From Fentanyl Intoxication

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Mesa County Coroner’s Office confirmed the cause of death of the 28-year-old Grand Junction resident died from Fentanyl while in custody at the Mesa County Jail.

Alizon Lopez was found unresponsive in her cell on May 21 during the staff’s regular security cell check in the detention center.

The cause of death was ruled a drug intoxication and the manner of death is an accident.

The investigation remains active.
