Mountain biking might be the toughest form of cycling in the world, constantly cycling in an incline, riding into higher elevations, in all sorts of terrain. Some of the best mountain bike cyclists in the world, recently came together for the biggest mountain bike stage race in the world.
They all cycled in the 2019 Cape Epic in Cape Town, South Africa. The Cape Epic is the an 8-day mountain bike stage race, covering 390 miles and more than 15-meters of climbing. It’s considered the Tour de France of mountain biking. What’s also unique about this race is that, the cyclists compete in teams of two.
Nino Schurter & Lars Forster both from Switerland won on the men’s side, and the team of Annika Langvad of Denmark & Anna Van Der Breggen of Netherlands took the women’s compeition. American James Lawrence, from Utah competed in the race. Lawrence is known as the “Iron Cowboy.” He is famous for finishing 50 ironman triathlon in 50 days in all US states.
