New York Passes Law Protecting Access to Abortion

New York state now has a law in the books that protects a woman’s right to an abortion even if the supreme court decides to overturn the law that legalized it in the first place.

Governor Andrew Cuomo signed “New York’s Reproductive Health Act” into law Tuesday.

The law preserves access to abortion services in the state and it protects doctors and medical professionals who perform them from criminal prosecution.

It also allows medical professionals in New York state who are not doctors to perform abortions.
