President Trump has signed his first veto striking down a resolution passed by both houses of congress that would roll back his border emergency declaration.
Saying he has a duty to veto it, the emergency declaration allows the president to re-direct military money to build a wall along the southern border with Mexico.
On Thursday, congress approved a joint resolution that would block that declaration.
12 Republicans joined Democrats in the vote and it is unlikely congress has the two-thirds majority needed to override Trump’s veto.
