GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – After twelve months of hard work, SCL Health Medical Group has finally opened the doors to its newest primary care clinic at 2570 Patterson Road,
“What a proud day for all of us, and what a proud day to be part of this community and to be able to provide services here,” says SCL Health’s President Bryan Johnson.
The clinic is 22,000 square feet, and ready to serve its patients.
A ribbon cutting and open house kicked off the grand opening; allowing community members and stakeholders to take a look at the state of the art establishment,
“Before opening the new facility, SCL Health was providing primary care services in existing space at St. Mary’s Medical Center; making this new space mean all the more to staff and patients. Not to mention, more affordable,” says KREX5’s Reilly Spence.
After ‘Foresight Family Physicians’ joined SCL Health in early 2021, the organizations quickly realized the shortage of medical providers and facilities in Mesa County,
“Nearly one in four ER visits could have been taken care of in a primary care facility; so it helps us to reduce the overall cost of care in the community by building a facility like this that those patients can come and get comprehensive primary care,” explains SCL Health’s Vice President of Operations Lee Syphus.
Through a ‘Community Needs Assesment’, SCL also discovered there was about a 26 primary care-provider shortage in the area,
“We know that we do not have enough primary care providers in this community to serve the population and so we’re excited to be able to add additional physicians, physician assistants, and NP’s to be able to help people with their primary care and keep people in the community healthy,” says SCL’s VP and Chief Medical Officer Elizabeth Buisker.
The primary care facility offers a wide array of treatment options, from cold and flu treatment, general wellness, or chronic condition management; and is ready to serve Mesa County now.
