Takeout favorites dining options amid simmered COVID restrictions

GRAND JUCNTION, Colo. (KREX) — Ordering food to-go is an almost daily routine for a lot of us in the Grand Valley. While Colorado’s COVID restrictions have eased for the most part, restaurants are still seeing heavy demand for take out options.

Spoons Bistro & Bakery looks to third parties to provide delivery meaning business in-house has back-to-back orders from pickup to the patio.

“They’ve increased and we have a staffing to handle it,” Spoons Bistro Manager Carl Jouett expresses, “We’re very lucky we got plenty of space so you’re not confinedm the COVID issues are less mitigated here.”

The choice to eat in or carry out remains.

“While takeout options such as delivery, curbside, and pick up has been around for years; restaurants are seeing people choose it now more than ever and becoming just as popular of an option of dining in,” Cora Dickey reports.

Between new ownership as of June 2020 and today’s staffing shortage limiting business hours — dining in at full capacity never stopped for Junct’n Square Pizza but demand for take out went up.

The staff works double duty serving and keeping orders accurate. Owner Melanie Wick says it’s all about keeping things flexible and comfortable for customers.

“If people want contactless delivery, we can handle that as well,” Wick mentions, We can do contactless pay here in the restaurant, we always stick to the guidelines from both the CDC and the Mesa County Department of Health. Whatever is currently recommended, we take all the precautions in the way we prepare our food and serve it to our customers

In short, expanded take out options, seem to be here to stay.

“We think they were gonna be able to keep that customer base going,” Jouett believes, “If we need to hire some new employees to provide customer service at the level that we want to provide it, I think will be able to do that.”

“We love when you come in and dine in, we love when you call us for take out or delivery,” Wick shares, “We love the opportunity to be here for you we love carrying on the tradition of being here since 1977.”
