GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Shifting the roundabout gives crews access to move towards the next phase, improving the southwest part of the intersection. Work will still be done on the eastern part of Grand Avenue and on Broadway in front of the Grand Central Shopping Plaza.
Motorists should expect temporary traffic holds during construction on the roundabout Wednesday night, October 27, so CDOT officials encourage you to use alternate routes around the work zone during that time.
“There’s enough room in this intersection to shift the roundabout towards the northeastern corner with plenty of room for motorists to go around it and still have that work take place in the southwestern portion of the intersection,” Colorado Department of Transportation’s Elise Thatcher mentions, “There will still be access to those businesses and it’ll be really similar to what’s been placed the last few weeks.”
The I-70B project is still scheduled to finish this upcoming May, as planned. CDOT will determine future shutdowns as colder weather moves in for the winter season.
