Trump Administration Continues Focus on Immigration Policy

The Trump administration has announced a regulation that could limit the number of legal immigrants able to enter and stay in the U.S.

That regulation stipulates that visa and green card applicants may be rejected if they have used government assistance.

That includes programs such as food stamps, housing vouchers, and Medicaid.

This comes on the heels of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids in Mississippi, which left some children wondering where their parents went.

An 11-year-old girl’s father is among the undocumented migrants taken into custody during last week’s raids in Mississippi.

Mark Morgan, the acting commissioner for U.S. Customs and Border Protection responded to her plea.

“I understand that the girl is upset, and I get that,” Morgan said. “But her father committed a crime.”

ICE spokesman Bryan Cox, however, says the girl’s father didn’t have a prior criminal conviction.
