After making bold promises for new health care legislation, President Trump now suggests congress wait until after the 2020 election to vote on a new healthcare plan.
He tweeted late Monday night republicans are working on a new plan that will replace Obamacare, after the elections.
Trump tried to repeal Obamacare several times in 2017, but never gained enough support in his own party to do so.
The president said this new plan will have lower premiums than the Affordable Care Act and will cover pre-existing conditions.
Health care especially for people with pre-existing conditions, resonates with voters and helped democrats in the November elections.
