UConn football players arrested on drug, weapons charges

Two University of Connecticut football players have been suspended from the team after being arrested on drug and weapons charges.

UConn police say 19-year-olds Nazir Williams, a linebacker, and Felton Blackwell, a defensive lineman, were pulled over Wednesday night after officers saw their vehicle had only one working headlight and had drifted over the center line.

Police say they found four grams of marijuana, a BB gun, and an open container of vodka in the car.

Williams is charged with possession of drugs, a weapon and alcohol. Blackwell faces a weapons possession charge. Both are due in court on Nov. 1.

The players, both redshirt freshmen, did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment and it was not immediately clear if either had hired an attorney.
