Tennessee-Martin has removed the “interim” tag from Anthony Stewart’s title and has officially named him head coach.
Stewart had been serving as UT Martin’s interim head coach since April 21, when Heath Schroyer left to become an assistant coach at North Carolina State. Stewart had been an associate head coach on Schroyer’s UT Martin staff from 2014-16.
UT Martin announced Thursday that Stewart had been named Schroyer’s permanent replacement. Athletic director Kevin McMillan said in a release that “I am confident in Coach Stewart’s abilities and look forward to watching him develop into a successful head coach and leader of men.”
UT Martin went a combined 41-28 in the two seasons in which Stewart worked as an assistant on Schroyer’s staff.
