Virginia’s Lieutenant Governor can breathe a little easier this morning as Virginia Delegate Patrick Hope says articles of impeachment originally planned for a Monday morning release will now be put on hold.
Justin Fairfax, the Lt. Governor of Virginia, is accused of sexual assault by two women – one a rape.
Virginia Delegate Patrick Hope says Fairfax should be removed from office.
Fairfax admits to encounters with the women but says everything was consensual.
He’s calling for a “thorough, independent and impartial investigation of these allegations.”
As Fairfax fights for his political life, Governor Ralph Northam remains defiant in the face of his scandal, saying he won’t step down.
He’s been under pressure to resign because of a blackface photo that appeared on his page in a medical yearbook decades ago.
Time will tell if these scandals will have a long-term effect on the party.
